
Malawi First Lady Madame Gertrude Mutharika on Saturday hosted a fundraising fashion show at Kamuzu Palace, in Lilongwe to promote and raise funds for girls education.
During the event Madame Mutharika who is founder of the Beautify Malawi Trust (BEAM) which organized the event, took to the run way in a navy blue gymdress complete with a white short sleeved shirt, black school shoes and white socks as way of encouraging and inspiring girls to work hard at school and aim high in life.
The First Lady called on fellow women in the country to inspire each other and work together towards women empowerment with emphasis on girl education.
She urged the women to utilize their various talents to assist one another.
Funds raised during the luncheon will go towards payment of school fees and supply of school materials such us exercise boos and writing materials for over 1500 students, most of whom girls under the BEAM bursary.
Apart from paying school fees, BEAM is also constructing hostels for girls in a number of Community Day Secondary Schools.
